KOSOVO IS TO GAIN INDEPENDENCE,what about somalilands

Somaliland applied for independence long time ago before all those balkan states before east timor.But still no replay.We need to check if the application form as riched the U.N or it got lost in the post.Kosovo a province of Serbia with a minoraty Serb population.This can be changed to Somaliland a province of Somalia with a minoraty harti population.

Somaliland's independence can only occur if it goes the way of Czechoslovakia:

1. A formal UN approved referendum in Somalia with voting in every region from Zeila to Kismayo.

2. If there is a 50% majority for separation, there should be a run off on a single issue: separating North from South along a certain border.

3. A formal ratification dissolving the Union of Somalia with two countries being formed Somalia and Somaliland.

It worked in Czechoslovakia because everyone approved of the dissolution of the Republic.

Somaliland's bid failed because it failed to include the South in the process.

In 1961, when the Union was ratified, all regions voted on the issue of Unification and was inclusive.

AW...I think kosovo and somaliland have exactly the same argument for independence.If Kosovo is allowed, why not somaliland.

Somali is not unifying or else there would be peace in the south,same goes for islamd and sunni........The only thing thats unifying people in somalia is tribes so if we use tribe as the bases for somaliland independence it has alot in common with kosovo.

somaliland 90% isaaq 5% gudebersi and 5% harti..........The figures might be a little of the mark so dont quote me on them.
Is in a union with a country with no government or leadership.Cant include the current ethoipian TFG.

Kosovo 90% albanians with 10% serbs.......Is in a union with a willing government in belgrade that looses the plot every now and again,but on the whole is functioning.

My friend there is clannish mentality in Mongolia and Saudi Arabia.... but they have common religion (Buddhism and Islam respectively) and languages and culture....

"CLANS" are not a basis for seperation...... 18 years and no buddy is talking about Somaliland independence.... why? Because if ethnic groups with similar languages and cultures split..... then what about the rest of africa.... With it's thousands of languages.etc There will be TWALAND

Somaliland is not the only place in Somalia with adminstrations.... but it is the only one seeking seccesion and it doesn't even have a sniff of support....while Kosovo is yet to be recognized and it has the EU AND US and much of the muslim worlds support.... the only thing it has against them is russia and it's veto at the Security council...
