What destroyed Somalia? I been thinking about this question for a while.. We can blame each other till the end of time but the truth is, all major tribes had something to do with it..

Greed has destroyed our country.. The unwillingness to share, to be first and not second no matter what, even if millions of people had to die...

No one wanted to be second to a Merahan president so people rebelled.. Then Habargidir and Abgal couldnt share, one of them either had to have it all or nothing, so was the 15 year war in the capital..

Even other Daroods couldnt get along, Majerteen ruling puntland while Merehan settled in Jubbaland but neither of these regions could prosper like they were supposed to because no one wanted to share nor come in second.. Ofcourse here you will have some argue that Puntland is all good but if that was the case than you wouldnt see smaller states emerging from within Puntland..

Do our people fear nepotism so much or are we just greedy?


Also can a country ever be build if it's citizens are not willing to sacrifice?


A country will never prosper until it's citizens are willing to struggle, build and die for it..

Somalia will get peace when someone really kicks another ones ass. No stupid little skirmishes. Something like the ICU where warlords are sent packing, not 91 when innocents were being targeted.

Warlords prosper off of war. Who wants to share when that means he looses zeroes of his bank account.

Really someone has to kick the other ones ass like Napoleon did. We aren't gonna come to the table and negotiate anything. Someones gonna win the other goes home packin.

Darod never let Kismayo to be turned into urban warfare. When the enemy has the upper hand, they often let it be seized peacefully. You guys are masters of mindless urban warfare. Idoor is second to you, engaging in suicide attacks back in 1988. They have learned from such mistakes and started building their country in post-conflict.

Somalia is not Mogadisho and Mogadisho is not Somalia. In addition, you exported your destruction to other towns south of Mogadisho.

We are selfish but we can still get along and avoid mindless conflicts and annihiliation. Don't escape from yourself. Just admit that Mogadisho was singlehandedly destroyed by Hawiye tribal militia from the ulterior. I don't care which subclans or branches did this. To my perspective, you are all the same to me.

Hargeisa is peaceful today because its temporary people can get along. Bosaso the same.

Make peace and let Somalis return to their own houses. I believe No clan owns the capital.

Correction Somalia is Mogadishu and Mogadishu is Somalia if that wasn't the case Somalia would have a functioning government by now.

you can't really pinned it down on one sole reason, but one of the main reasons were outside influences, mainly from the cold war that helped dictators stay in power when they easily would have been over thrown.
Like every dictator the power corrupts them, and they simply won't let go of power untill the enemy comes knocking on their door.

i don't agree, to find a solution you need to root out the problems and identify what pushed the country into a civil war. otherwise your gonna have the same problems recurring.

From my first post you can see that i have noted how habargidir and abgal had 15 year war and wouldnt share because of their greed..

voltage i wish it was that simple and we could all just move on but the problem is a lot of qabils claim their lands were taken away by force and will continue to cause havoc in the country until they get it back.. The land is big enough for everyone but some tribes want an entire regions for themselves..

This is where the greed comes to play.. you even see it here, ever kid claiming an entire regions of somalia.. The only country where people claim citys or regions instead of the country as a whole..
