Badhan and Eastern Sanaag embrace Somaliland

Badhan(Qarannews)-The local district council in the township of Badhan, Eastern Sanaag have unanimously elected to return to Somaliland administration and to withdraw their support for the local Puntland regional authority.
The mayor of Badhan, Ahmed Mohamed Osman, speaking at a ceremony held in the town yesterday stated that the "decision was taken in the light of the recent developments in the region, and was a unanimous decision".
The government of Somaliland has recently taken steps to re-absorb the administration of parts of eastern Sool and Sanaag. These moves have been wholeheartedly welcomed in the region by the local residents.
Sources in the area have confirmed that Somaliland officials have begun work in Badhan, and the national flag flies over the town hall.
It is also reported that strong contingent from the Somaliland Defence Forces have moved from their basis in Erigavo, the regional capital and have taken secure positions in the region.
