Nomadic Statues???????????????????

Postby SummerRain » Sun Dec 02, 2007 2:55 pm

I came across this clip of a interview with few Somali rap artists and all I could do was shake my head. I really dont understand, the concept of Somali rappers. What about them is Somali? They talk, dress and act like a typical African American rapper but however, use or refer to themselves as "Nomadic statues". Do they know what being a nomad is and who is being a rapper and living in a society like America constitute to being a nomad.

Leila actually has a good point. A nomad is a nomad, no matter the circumstances.

^^ Rolling Eyes Niggers ma tahiin? Confused

Leila,

I understand that we are nomadic people generally speaking. What I'm pointing at is this concept of refering to themselves as nomadic yet nothing they do or rap about is? Get my point. They are just like any other typical African American as far as I'm concerned. THere is nothing that distinguishes their art of Hip Hop from others.

I agree but then they are not African Americans and they have to differentiate themselves and maybe that is one way of doing it.

Every somali you meet are always in the move and talking about relocation myself included!!!!!!!
