Messed up. For one, the production wont be in Somalia; I can understand the south but why not somewhere up north? There is also the fact that they are making it into some light dark/comedy film.. I was hoping for something more like Blood Diamond to get the attention of world media..

Like Cabdallah said, hope they use real Somalis as extra's this time instead of jareer. It wouldn't hurt giving at least one Somali role a more visible, positive character for the (unintentional) demonizing of Somalis in the film to balance it out a little bit.

I have an idea for that role. A Somali man from the Majeerteen clan who mentions every scene that Aidid's mob are not his people and maybe also say Viva Puntland from time to time very subtly.

I remember they came to our neighborhoods in california and asked us to be extras in the movie-to-be "black hawk down", somalida waa very suspicious people, so they refused under the claims that "the recruiters" waaxeey u shaqeeyaan "fbi"da and million of other bogus claims, looool.

Maybe things are different now, since dadka weey ilabaxeen, who knows I might be approached and would happily play the guy who throws the last stone breaking the skull of that cadaan kid sideways. lol
