How long do you think you guys are gonna have kismayo before it changes hands again? Y'all should invest in gedo more.

Ican,
We had it for 8 years before Marexaan ICU allied with Turki, and the Governer of Jubboinka was made Ogadeen and the mayor of Kismayo made MR so technically I don't think we lost it. That being said, I really don't care who controls Kismayo as we'll always dominate the city one way or another. As far as Gedo goes, cities like Bardhere, Beled Xaawo grew tremendously but little is noticed because they were working from absolute scratch.
Also I'll add that the Ogadeen fellow who ruled Jubboinka under ICU Ahmed Madoobeo or something was actually a very good fellow

Kismayo is a big city and no one qabil will always rule it, everyone will have influence one way or another.
My point is marehan seem to be investing in that city disproportionately more than others building homes,etc, while completely ignoring their regions in gedo. Gedo is fertile land and a big gobol, but I suppose the thinking is why build from scratch when kismayo is ready and built by others. The problem with that strategy is, if you're people are removed(leadership wise) there is no place to regroup and go back.
Puntland was built from scratch as well and you can see where it's at it today, but resource wise gedo and the south in general is better. If Gedo was a priority for marehan, it'd be a different place but it's safe to say your people have put your hopes and dreams in kismayo just like your put your hopes and dreams in mogadishu during the MSB days.

Ican,
Taking what you're saying as constructive criticizm, yes Reer Gedo can do better. We've had our problems with peace and stability with a lot of conflict. There was the Itixaad wars which was followed by a five year full blown inter-Marexaan civil war. I've commended Reer Puntland/Somaliland on their building before but I believe it shows what is possible when you have a good long period of uninterrupted peace. Inshallah things look better now as we've had a good 2 years of quiet and even more importantly a formal Maamul is being completed as we speak:
http://www.gedonet.com/index.php?news=2463A officially recognized Maamul is very important for NGO's etc. to level with and assist in development.
Orginizations like Hirda have sprang up:
http://www.hirda.org/SDF:
http://somalidevelopmentfoundation.org/There both very active, and I'm sure they've probably been in a city near you.
All my family extended family exclusively send money to our cities/deegans in Gedo and we're pretty active in that regard. I know of some Marexaans that do that in Kismaayo, and thats good also because development, population increase is a good thing. Either way in giving credit where credit is due theres a lot of Gedoians who are really trying and have just had to overcome some challenges along the way. Laakin Inshallah the future looks bright.

Murax;
You just found out that Axmed Madoobe was a very nice and decent guy? I knew that when he was the governor for the ICU. He was the one he named a Mareexaan to be the mayor, airport and Port. He did all that for you fockers even though you didn't deserve in any way, shape or form. And all you hear from the Ilka-Yars is complain on how the ICU mistreated them. Aside from the Bu'aale mistake, Ilka-Yars were treated fairly.
