Ethiopia's last days in Eritrea's port city of Massawa and the days of Amharas controlling Ethiopia came to an end because of this battle...in this battle alone, 14,000 Ethiopian Soldiers were killed

Great topic, the battle for Massawa had led to the end of amhara domination in eritrea, after eritreans took over the port city the amharra knew there was no chance of defeating the liberating army so with the help of USA, USSR etc they received culster bombs and all sorts so for a 7 months period after the city was liberated they bombed it to the ground as a way of increasing eritrean casulties, mainly targeting civilian areas and bombing food supplies etc.

In 1991 knowing how strong the EPLF were the amhara donkeys retreated from the capital and the EPLF not firing a single bullet, captured the beautiful city ASMARA. About half a million amhara's withdrew from asmara 1 day before the EPLF reached the capital many thousands of amhara died on the way to sudan or ethiopia.

Watch some of the destruction the amhara caused in their 7months of bombing
