Kablalax clans in Jubaland had pursued their own short-term goals, but in the North, the same clan Kablalax was simulateneously waging an intensive war against three or 4 imperial countries. In Kismayo, it was all business men protecting their own interest. The Harti in Kismayo served the askaris and the civil service, thus benefiting from the colonial system and as a carry over to their subsequent hegemony in southern Somalia.
