"Divisions within the TFG have also hampered reconciliation efforts. President Yusuf and his prime minister, Ali Mohammed Gedi, never really got on. The final straw was a row over a donation of $32m Saudi Arabia made to the government for a national reconciliation conference. Gedi kept most of the money for himself. Frustrated by the impasse, the Americans took control. Gedi was summoned to Addis Ababa where he spent two days locked in meetings with US and Ethiopian officials.

In return for stepping down, Gedi was given asylum in the United States and was allowed to keep the remains of the Saudi money. He has bought a house in Los Angeles and US officials have negotiated a position for him at the University of California in Los Angeles."

I blame Beesha Hawiye for letting him get away with this. That could feed a lot of displaced refugees in Mogdshuio.

With over 5o0 billion dollars now being allocated for them i dont think so. One question though why the hell does the ICU keep that warlord among them, when he clearly is responsible for their fall.

Geedi proved to be a greedy scumbag once he had a taste of power. This just goes to show that you don't have to already have blood on your hands and dirty money in your pocket to be a bad leader.

The lesson to be learned from Geedi is that there is no substitute for honesty and principles, it doesn't matter how educated or rich you are or how much backing you have from clans, the international community or Ethiopia. If you're a lying corrupt focker you should never be allowed to have any political power.

I think Nur Adde, while definitely pro-TFG, just might, MAYBE, be an actual honest and principled politician.

If this is true, he deserves to have the support of every living Somali. Sadly, the discovery that he is actually honest and principled will have the opposite effect, as all the dishonest politicians (ie most of Parliament) will view him as a threat.

I have said this to a lot of people in Somalinet and nobody believed me. Geedi was one Greedy motherfcka and played with the national money. If I was Abdullahi Yusuf, I would bring the fcker to court and charge him with national treason
