marketing or finance?

Salam alaikum

only 38 school days left and i am compeletly confused about the career i should choose.marketing or finance (international ecnomy or relationship)..confused to what will i choose between the two majors both has something special that i cant give up. marketing a very interetsing major, easily the best degree for anyone to take all you need to have is a 100% creative and good skills to succed in marketing and it can be very hard that marketing industry is very hard to get into because lot of companies want their marketing people to also have experience in their industry as well. Finance specially international finance major is also interesting and if you major in that major, all sorts of careers are open to you OR the only career open to you is unemployment its very difficult industry to get ito too...

which do you think will have good job prospectus on the future , and will get the better pay packet?

It dependens what you enjoy most . Personally I will go for finance. It is not hard to get jobs in finance as compared to marketing. You need to be an extrovat and happy to talk to people all the time in marketing. Creativity and catching peoples imaginations.Also where do you want to be in say 5-10 years is another way of seeing it.

Finance/Accounting have more job opportunities than marketing. Finance/Accounting is also much more universal degree to do and will open you up to the global market.

I would advise you to study Accounting instead. Most corporate finance positions (at higher levels) require 3-5 years worth of Accounting experience.

Not to mention, the Accountants are the last to be fired.

Abdi, thanks for the advice brother, accounting is involved with budgets and other costs with selling and i hate budgets and numbers..i really don't want to do anything work related anymore.

That's easy, i have been told the day i started college that team work is important in business and in all aspects of life, you have heard the saying 2 heads are better than 1, well that is true, there has been many times someone else has had an idea that saved either time or money for the company and all benefited

Not everyone is suffering from a life threatening disease such as yourself dear. Insha-Allah she'll have a long healthy life ahead of her..too bad I can't say the same to you. By the way when is your family finally going to sign those papers to cut off your life support? I'm sure you're costing them a fortune lord knows hooyo n aabo can't pay their rent much less afford your medical expenses.

I have a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. IMHO, its a much better option. Accounting is an over saturated market where there's more supply than demand.

I would recommend accounting and finance, for the same reasons as Abdiwahab. Also finance and accounting jobs are experiencing a boom. Marketing is a very pansy subject, where a career is hard to forge.

To be successful in finance, you have to speak the language of Accounting.

Look at most finance job ads, you will see a requirement for accounting work experience.

I have MBA in Marketing E-Commerce and working for a large Mutual Fund Company And yes Marketing is great but not easy for coloured or minority people to find jobs in that field (there are only 3 of us who are considered minority under a 70000 employees). But money wise is amazing and the connection/traveling/etc is great. Not easy though (unless you're taking Advertisement etc).

Accounting is typical and boring. Majority are immigrant who work in that field and yes it's easier to get a job, but is it a job your'e looking for or a CAREER.....
