How do somalis feel about being grouped with other blacks?

Postby Somali arab mix » Sat Mar 29, 2008 8:32 pm

For example, im from the USA.. and they call every one under the sun here with dark skin african american or black. Why can't i say im Somali? Even in my school papers it classify s me as african american but my asain counterparts say filipino or korean or what ever.. Is this a racist thing to do? They say all slant eyes are not the same why call all dark skinned people the same.. To make matters worse my black history teacher claims everything from other parts of africa like eygpt, brits arnt claiming stuff the russains did why do this? They act like its one country but in africa and everyone talks the same and lives the same, people don't even do that in some cities let alone states or countrys within the continent. Then i look at whats going on if southafrica where they label us "foreigners" and i just can't belive this crap..
