You know what's funny, I have a Xawadle uncle that lives in Maryland and he's been there since the 70s. :lol:

Well educated guy, he graduated from University of Pennsylvania and he has a masters degree. :up:

Murax, I'm a 1st generation. My dad has been here since '79 though. He was like 17 though lol...

Wara my uncle caadi ma'ahan.. he doesn't have an accent at all. He quit Somali politics and I use to catch him on some funny radio forums. :shock: :lol:

Maybe I know him. Lol...My dad doesn't have much an accent either, but he protests he does.

There are others who came around the same time like them.

My Father usually to motivate me tells me about how in 1977 arrived in Montreal with very little money and for the first time in his life saw snow. Now imagine coming from a place where winters are 90+ degrees and come to a place where the temp is -20. :lol:

nople-man, wallahi my mom says the same too........like 8 years prior to the war, alcohol shops were increasing like craazy, the yung women all started wearing diric that u can see their cawra, zina was mormal and people use to find dead babies (probably wacels killed by the mother), my mom found a baby while she was comming home, she decided to to keep him but jaale Siyaad soldiers came and took him to government orphanage. But Yh The place Was going Down Hill. After the war RELIGIOULY things improved.

I don't know about now, but before the ICU came to power, they had alcohol bars iand clubs in Mogadishu.
