Grant,

are you speaking about regular dentists or orthodontists? I believe that the orthodontists make about 200-300K, but that's because Orthodontics is a postgraduate field and it takes another 3-4 years of education. However, regular dentists make around same as Lawyer, while the best of the Lawyers would make more than the dentist.

I know a guy in my building, an older dude of about 50+ and he is now retired enjoying life, he was an Orthodontist and now all he does is buy properties and flipped them for fun.

Surria,

Orthodontists are right at the top, followed by cosmetic specialists. ( At least up till now; they are taking a BIG hit in the present economy)

But some lawyers make more than other lawyers, as some dentists make more than other dentists. Check out the banner at the top of this site, then some of the topics like "Practice Management" .

I think you are going to be surprised to see what dentists consider "healthy" these days.

FYI,

Technicians are not stepworkers. We are "teamplayers" who often call the shots and are the teachers with respect to technical matters. This is how we are able to hold onto the work.

I have been a CDT since 1978. This means I have had at least 12 hours of continuing education every year since then. You do the math. Regrettably, it's all been voluntary; but you should note that some of us are less "community college" than others. I don't take a back seat among the DDS crew.

Surrender,

The financial info on the website is probably just US. There are posters on Dentaltown from all over the world, however. There are regular technician posters from Canada, France, Germany and South Africa. Dentist posters are even more broadly distributed.

You can get pretty specific information if you want to ask a question.
