I wanted to know, since most of us grew up in the west, do you blind follow your parents political views about back home or do you make your own decisions.. I know most of us will be influenced by our relatives no matter what but how much do you actually take in?

You know, when they tell you Caydiid was a saint and did no mistake or Sayid Barre had every right to bomb cities in the North or Abdullahi Yusuf is a Mujahid..

Do you accept it all or do you say " hold on there pops:lol:

Do you make your own decisions or do you just follow whatever your clan views as being right..

Im asking these questions because i have realized that most somali are slaves to other people's political views..

Somalia will only improve when there arises people who are brave enough to put the truth above all else..

Great question sxb. I totally agree with you, the majority of somalis don't develop their own political views but just follow what others (family and qabiil mates  ) have to say. The only way to move forward is to break away from kin loyalty and actually come up with ur own opinion even if it goes against Adeer. I personally listen to what my dad has to say because he's not biased and is always right :D

My mom doesn't know left from right in politics, and she doesn't care 2 cents to know about it either.

My dad doesn't talk too much about politics either.

I learned everything on my own, so all my political views are my own and not influenced by my parents.

Ilaahay anuxaariisto amiin

Im not sure if i know what my parents political views are..my mum was telling me the other day that Isaaq is the reason why Siad barre was ousted...because they didnt want a darood president.

I cant help but think shes right.

My dad on the other hand only listens to Somaliland news...if anything about Somalia comes on tv ..he doesnt really show much interest.

Im not somali but I am from the South(Mother from Florida,Dad from Texas) where political values differ from the rest of the US in a big way. They usually focus on local politics and don't care much for the national stuff. Infact this is the first time in years I've heard them talk about the primaries. I on the other hand have always been into the national stuff. I think this is because I have yet to put down any roots.
