Grant You are right about arab nationalism but wrong about the house of saud.
the house of saud and the followers of abdulwahab were number 3 in the levels of power and influence in arabia after the rashid tribe and the hashemites in hejaz.

The british funded the saud clan as well as fully backing the the hashemites .
The saud clan used british weapons and gold to defeat and exterminate the rashids that were loyal to thier khalifa the ottoman sultan, while the hashemites raised rebellion against thier khalifa as well, believing the british lies and promises.

When the ottomans were defeated , the british captured palestine and sharif hussien and the
arab nationalist officers from the ottoman army started to raise a fuss, about the sykes-picot treaty.
