Fah,

By capturing perhiperal area's in Somalia, you will spread the ideology of resistance to the folks in those area's. It will bring the struggle closer to them, while on the other hand it will stretch the Ethiopians.

For example, by capturing the perhiperal area's they can:

-Draw the attention of International Press.
-Show the non-existence of the paper regime in Somalia
-Show that the resistance is growing and spreading
-Recruit new members
-Set up bases from where they can organize, train their men, and launch their future assaults. And fall back when they need to retreat.
Etc etc.

As you can see, this is classic guerrilla warfare and tactics, which means the resistance is been organized professionally along classic guerrila tactics.

And the great thing: all this can happen besides the daily attacks on Ethiopians in and around Baidoba and Mogadishu.

So the urban guerrilla proceeds side by side to the rural guerrilla war effort.

Great change of strategy.

We're moving ahead indeed.

You guys don't get it. The Al-Shabaab want to export their war to all Somali lands so the Somali people get involved.

I agree with Zackabdul. They have a newer sense of urgency since the deployment of UN troops has been announced .
UN in , Ethiopia out , we'll get back to square one which is Al Shabaab= clowns !!

The TFG does and should care about the integrity and the control of all the somali territories.

Puntland is deeply involved with the destruction of the south. So they too deserve to get the same sort of fire that burned Xamar.

Pray to Allah that Al Shabab get there first because if they are forgiving unlike the irate Hutus.

-Alshabaab attacked Ethiopians in Yaaqbarweyne
-Alshabaab took over Jilib and Kamsuuma.
-Alshabaab rolled into Xaradheere.



All these within the span of few days point to Alshabaab being a well organized fighting force with huge local support in Jubba, Bay, and banadir Areas. A smal band of men can not accomplish such wins and cover the distance were it not local somalis in each area having a pact with them and fighting on their own.
