In the Puntland city of Galkayo, 750km north of Mogadishu, the private residence of a senior intelligence officer was attacked by rebels with grenades, sources said.
Yasin Tolwaye, the Puntland Intelligence Service (PIS) chief in Mudug region, was not hurt during the explosion that rocked his house.
Two of his armed guards suffered minor wounds and a part of the home was damaged by the blast, however.
No one was arrested and n o group has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
Four PIS agents have been assassinated in Bossaso since last year by unknown groups, although local police officials suspect anti-government insurgents are responsible for the killings.
