helped them as much as you can but realized that they aren't trying to help themselves.
In my case, after 5 yrs am finally done! I can't help people that aren't helping themselves
it just doesn't work that way

You've done all you possibly can for 5 years - so don't be too hard on yourself. Hopefully, your friend will realize one day what a good heart you've got & what a great friend you've been, Insha-Allah. You can still be there for her, but in the background. Everyone is the captain of their own ship. However, just be save in the knowledge that you've done your bit, now it's for her to do her bit.
