"From humble beginnings as the son of nomadic goat herders, Abdiwahab rose to become one of the most influential men in East Africa. He launched his conglomerate, Jimcaale Industries, upon his return from exile in the United States. His commercial success did not change Abdiwahab who still maintained his close ties to his roots as son of Somali nomads.
During his life, Abdiwahab worked hard to improve the welfare of his people by setting up various charitable projects across Somalia. The most notable charitable project is the AW Education Trust which funds the education of thousands of poor Somali children who otherwise would be unable to afford to attend school. Being a religious man, Abdiwahab also created a various network of Mosques and centers of Islamic learning.
As an author, Abdiwahab wrote several books on various topics from entrepeneurship to politics. His most acclaimed book, "Halgan", was an autobiography of his life. In the book, Abdiwahab chronicled the quintessential Somali experience of the late 20th and early 21st century.
Abdiwahab Ahmed Ali Jimcaale is survived by his wives, Marwo Khadijah Osobleh & Marwo Faisah Jayte.
