The French bought and sold titles all the time. Some of the larger pieces of real estate still come with them.

The British house has a baronage. Not sure what the French house is, but it wouldn't be a baronage.

One more thing , I particularlty emphasized on the difference between what is considered true nobility amongst the French aristocracy , by that I mean BEFORE the French Revolution and everything after that .Those ennobled by Napoleon were for the vast majority bestowed upon the title " baron d'Empire ".

Titles of nobility in general follow the pattern "The Marquis de Lafayette". "The Marquis" is the rank and Lafayette is the real estate associated with the rank. If "Lafayette" changes hands, so does the title. Property did, and does, change hands all the time. Death, debt and taxes.

"De Rothschild" does not include any real estate, so the French title is one of minor nobility, and was probably not transferable outside the family. Note that Lord Disraeli, another Jew, was Baron Beaconsfield, which is a transferable title that includes real estate, although British.

Fisrt of all nobility titles in France have hierachy , baron , marquis , vi-comte, comte, duc ,archi-duc , prince.
No2 , let's say the king ennobles you for outstanding valor in war or whatever .
You either have a real estate at that point or you don't .
If you do have one , you will take the name of that real esate , village , lieu-dit ect..ect.. and that will be your name passed on to your kids for ever !!
If you are given a minor title you will just have the "particule DE" before your name , that's how it works with the French , nobilty is an HONOR {or a club}only the king can bestow upon you . If one goes bankrupt and sells his castle to John Grant from Salt Lake City , you ain't gonna be named Comte John de La Fontenievre just because you got cash and bought his property

French titles of genuine nobility (i.e. those associated with land) transfer with the land.

The history of the matter has been that families die out, borrow excessively against the estate, etc. Many titles have changed hands or simply disappeared as the real estate has been broken up. True say.

A friend of mine's mother bought a country estate in the south of France and became a baroness!

To be fair, the Rothschilds were not hardcore Zionists, and the Balfour Declaration's intent was to allow for Jewish immigration and investment in Palestine, but not displacement of Palestinians. The original declaration spelled out that the policy could not be legally used to cause Palestinians to lose any rights.

Things changed with the rise of Arab nationalism and hardcore Zionism in the 1920s and came to a head in the 1930s with the Arab Revolt in Palestine in 1936. When the Jewish Palestinians sided with the British against their neighbors the Arab Palestinians, that is really where the conflict began, not with the relatively harmless Balfour Declaration.

The problem was the hardcore Zionists who moved into Palestine and stirred up trouble between the local Sephardic Jews who had been there for millenia and the local Palestinians.
