Allah s.w.t tells us to call ourselves MUSLIMS nothing else

Postby Enlightened~Sista » Thu Jun 19, 2008 8:57 am

Asalaamu Alaikum,

Nowadays labels abound! you will come across people today who will not hestitate to tell you ' I am Salafi' 'I am 'Sunni' I am 'Shia' I am 'Sufi' ..What ever happened to I AM ''MUSLIM''?? :?

''Who is better in speech
Than one who calls (others)
To Allah, works righteousness,
And says, I am of those
Who bow in Islam (Muslim)? ''

[Al-Qur'an 41:33]

Allah s.w.t tells us there is nothing BETTER than calling yourself MUSLIM all these labels Sunni /Salafi /Sufi/ ithna Ashari Shia/Ismaili Shia/Ibadi/Zaydi only divide the Ummah.

Who are the BELIEVERS? Allah gives us the correct definition in the Qur'an! The definition is not complicated but yet other people make it as if it is..so its up to you..who you want to believe.

Surat Al Mu'minoon The Believers (CHAPTER 23 VERSES 1- 11)

Successful indeed are the believers

Who are humble in their prayers,

And who shun vain conversation,

Who are active in deeds of charity;

And who guard their modesty -

Except before their mates or those whom their right hands possess, for they surely are not blameable,

But whoever seeks to go beyond that, these are they that exceed the limits; the transgressors <<pay special attention to this verse!!

Those who faithfully observe their trusts and their covenants;

And who (strictly) guard their prayers;-

These will be the heirs,

Who will inherit Paradise: they will dwell therein (for ever).

-------

''And hold fast,
All together, by the rope
Which Allah (stretches out for you),
and be not divided among yourselves;''

[Al-Qur'an 3:103]

Rope of Allah = Glorious Qur'an

We're also commanded to follow in the Prophet's footsteps.

''Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger''
[Al-Qur'an 4:59]

''As for those who divide
Their religion and break up
Into sects, you have
No part in them in the least:
Their affair is with Allah:
He will in the end
Tell them the truth
Of all that they did.''
[Al-Qur'an 6:159]

Our Prophet pbuh was a MUSLIM..so were ALL the Prophets pbut. Please start calling yourselves Muslims only from now on.

Wa alaikum As Salaam.

You are absolutly right. :)

.. Islam is perfect, however Muslims are not.

Theres a hadith which mentions these sects, Im sure your aware of the fact that there will be 73 sects and only 1 will enter Jannah.

Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The Jews were split up into seventy-one or seventy-two sects; and the Christians were split up into seventy one or seventy-two sects; and my community will be split up into seventy-three sects. (Abu Dawud Book #40, Hadith #4579)

Narrated Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman: The people used to ask Allah's Apostle about the good but I used to ask him about the evil lest I should be overtaken by them. So I said, "O Allah's Apostle! We were living in ignorance and in an (extremely) worst atmosphere, then Allah brought to us this good (i.e., Islam); will there be any evil after this good?" He said, "Yes." I said, 'Will there be any good after that evil?" He replied, "Yes, but it will be tainted (not pure.)'' I asked, "What will be its taint?" He replied, "(There will be) some people who will guide others not according to my tradition? You will approve of some of their deeds and disapprove of some others." I asked, "Will there be any evil after that good?" He replied, "Yes, (there will be) some people calling at the gates of the (Hell) Fire, and whoever will respond to their call, will be thrown by them into the (Hell) Fire." I said, "O Allah s Apostle! Will you describe them to us?" He said, "They will be from our own people and will speak our language." I said, "What do you order me to do if such a state should take place in my life?" He said, "Stick to the group of Muslims and their Imam (ruler)." I said, "If there is neither a group of Muslims nor an Imam (ruler)?" He said, "Then turn away from all those sects even if you were to bite (eat) the roots of a tree till death overtakes you while you are in that state." (Book #88, Hadith #206)

I think theres another narration which says if you dont know which one to choose stick to the largest, and since the largest is the earlier traditions and generations, Ahul Sunnah. Allah has promised to keep the successful. Forgive me if this is incorrect though.
