Answer= 1/2
This was the question: <A random two-child family with at least one boy is chosen. What is the probability that it has a girl?>
Hint 1: at least one boy
Hint 2: We also want girl in the event
Boy, Boy
Boy, Girl
Girl, Boy
Girl, Girl---> This is out
Leaving:
Boy, Boy
Boy, Girl
Girl, Boy
Out of these three events, only two of them had both a boy and a girl thus making it 2/3
If that question was re-phrased into
A random two-child family with one boy is chosen. What is the probability that the other child is a girl?
Boy, Boy----> Out
Boy, Girl
Girl, Boy
Girl, Girl-----> Out
Probability here is 1/2
