Our topic starter wants to hear the H-word. So, while refusing to satisfy our H-obsessed topic starter, I will get to the bottom with minimal detail:
Djibouti had a chance to get independence in 1954, but during that period there were many splinter groups and no real system of hierarchy. Somalis and Afars mixed politically and most Afars were in favor of unity with neigboring Somaliland.
The Somali Djiboutians (professional whores) devised ways to postpone Djibouti's independence for another two decades so they could win the hearts of the French and be the uncontested leaders of the future Republic of Djibouti.
Their malnourished, delusional cousins in British/Italian Somaliland rushed into "xornimo." And as evidenced through the turbulent periods of inter-clan warfare and weak governments of the first two leaders, Somalis rushed their independence. Luckily, Siad's commie revolution briefly saved the young republic...but only briefly because Siad waited too long to implement his system of hierarchy (MOD).
The End.
