Bright red garments are frowned upon, I'm told. I don't remember where, however. I will track it down.

Yemenis say gold for women, silver or white gold for men. For some reason the men especially value ruby rings set in silver. I don't know the background.

it`s in the ahadeeth that silk and gold is haraam for men. one of them is narrated abu dawood that sayidina ali ibn abu talib ra said: the prophet saw took a piece of silk in his right hand and a piece of gold in his left and said: these two are forbidden for the males of my ummah.
classed as saheeh by alalbaani in saheeh abi dawood.

it came from ibn omar that bukhari reported: the prophet saw wore a silver ring.
after him abu Bakr , omar and othman wore it, until it fell off his finger into a well.

There are different formulas for white gold. Most are silver-palladium, no gold content. Yemenis accept it.

What about silver necklace?

Few weeks ago some random somali man stopped me and asked me to chake my chains off.

At the masjid for example, i see loads of men with chains who do not take them off while praying, one was sitting front row and to my surprise nobody told him off.
