I have the heart of a Jareer, the psyche of a Somali, and the body of a Bajun.
But of all those 3, I've been best classified as the last one because of the characteristics of my ancestors. The Bajun islanders. They had terrible fear of dry land, so their cowardice led them to stay on the islands. The only time they expanded is when others (Zanj Imperial diplomats, Italians, Portuguese, etc.) took them off the islands and implanted them in parts of their respective empires. And today we have the least amount of land and thus the least amount of power in both Kenya and Somalia - our host nations.
This cowardly trait along with the physical chameleon ability (I've been mistaken for everything from Afghan to Nigerian, literally) - gives me a negative outlook on race, making me an anti-racist of biblical proportions - yet at the same time it makes me the most vile racist on Earth.
Unbelievable yet beautifully ... ... ... tragic.
