The Crooked US Healthcare System

Postby AbdiWahab252 » Thu Aug 21, 2008 2:17 pm

Its amazing how much co-pays and premiums for insurance have gone up over the years:

1. Copay to visit my Doc or any Specialist: $25 per visit

2. Emergency Room Visit - $100 (plus the 2-4hr wait before seeing a doctor (if I am lucky as most times a Physicians Assistant & then a quick 2 minute visit by the Doctor to check the diagnosis and treatment recommendations)

3. Surgical/Post Op - $300 minimum

4. Medication - $30 for Generics, $45 for Brand name

All that on top of a $100 monthly premium.

Imagine if one doesn't have any health insurance, you will be made bankrupt. My cousin visited the ER and got hit up for $6.000 to treat his asthmatic attack.

Dawwa9,

He won't the health care system is crooked. The health insurance companies will hire lobbyists to defeat any reform.

Costa,

That is what you call a medical qaxooti. Aniga ba raba in Canada iska dhiibo.

Zulaika,

$6,000 for 1 visit. I managed to help him qualify for some free care & negotiate it down to $600 (after a lot of phone calls). THe leading cause of bankruptcy in the US is medical expenses.

Siren,

Marry me

Ka darag and Madd,

The NHS system is much better than the US system which marginalizes the poor.

He has to win first..which according to recent chnages in the campaigns seems very far.

And even if he did..it will take years before e real change can happen in any of America's domestic and foreign policies.

 Walaahi, det var inte meningen. Jag tankte inte ens pa det.

Abdi-

You'd think so, but the NHS is shit walaahi. It's better being insured and go private rather than trust the NHS.
