ES,

According to the religion & as the sunnah of the Prophet (saw) is, a Muslim man must marry a Muslim woman, some scholars even argue a widow or a woman with a disability e.g. blind or crippled is better, because they too need a man to take care of them (nin asturo). But, in the real world, since very few men want such women, they have to follow the shari'ah and if they decide to marry ahlul kitaab women, she must've been chaste & practicing and the intention for marriage must be to convert her (in la badbaadiyo, ilmo Muslim ah hooyo u noqoto), there can never be love between a kaaffir & a Muslim.

Also, a man can not marry two sisters at the same time according to this verse:

"Forbidden to you for (marriage) are....two sisters in wedlock at the same time, except for what has already passed"

(Surah al-Nissa, 23)

Question: Can a Muslim marry an ahlul kitaab who drinks alcohol, eats pork or associates Allah with partners?

Haddad,

"Lawful to you in marriage are chaste women from the believers and chaste women from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) before your time" [al-Maaa'idah 5:5]

According to a lecture by Sh. Qardawi, he said in this case "chaste" means (muhsinaat), they must abstain from illegal sexual intercourse and must be practicing ahlul kitaab, if they're Jews and pork & alcohol is forbidden to them, then the question of is she a practicing Jew comes to mind and such a marriage may not be permitted. Also, the only way it becomes permissible is if the intention is to convert her, other wordly reasons aren't enough.
