I came across this article..while reading another about Obama..I know ..weird..lol

So there is something for you to be happy about.

It turns out (we all knew this.lol) that in general , you are more loyal than your male counterparts..according to this study.

But I disagree..with some points.

Read it, enjoy it..and tell us what you think about and how you reacted to it.

PS. the first page is enough to draw your conclusions/judgements.

The thing I dislike about these sort of ''research'' on lifestyl and personality is that they dont help but make people more unsure  No wonder why people are so unsure about things in life these days.

BTW, I agree with the part of Love and Lust, although the distinction between the two is blurry.

This part is weird:
After interacting with the beautiful actor, participants were then asked to imagine how they would react if their own partner were to act not-so-beautifully -- being late for a date, for instance, or lying about going out with friends.

Men who were paired with the chatty attractive woman were less likely to forgive their girlfriends' hypothetical bad behavior (compared with men paired with the taciturn fake participant).
The conclusion? Subconsciously, men saw the flirtatious woman as a good alternative mate and so felt a bit less committed to their girlfriends.
They got it all messed up in the research.......I would be less forgiving when she comes late for a date or lies about going out with friends not because of lack of loyalty, but because the chatty attractive woman would bring me on thoughts of: ''what if your g/f does the same to other man'' and with such thoughts on my head the last thing I would need to hear is a lame excuse for been late or a lie to go out with ''friends''

"The conclusion? Subconsciously, men saw the flirtatious woman as a good alternative mate and so felt a bit less committed to their girlfriends. Women, too, saw the friendly guy as an attractive alternative -- but they also saw the threat he posed. So women tried to strengthen their relationships -- essentially pitching in to do more of the "heavy lifting" of relationship upkeep."

Interesting read!

"Love helps a person commit," he says, "but desire fuels sexuality, and sexual desire is not about commitment."

This quote captures one of the reasons why there is a high divorce rate in our communities!

utter common sense. We know it, men and women are different. Men cheat, Women defeat. Its simple evolutionary biology. Basically, the article is suggesting an explanation for mens tendancy to cheat. Painting the man as a flawed man and also pointing that good relationships are only the ones that have both couples flawed. Meaning : The cheating man and the flirtatious woman. Both guilty, both flawed, both happily ever after? I dont think so.

I rather have the old fashion couple- The angelic, faithful, gullible perfect wife and her husband man slut. The more he is guilty the more sanctimonious she will be on him and the more she will make his guilt conscious life miserable.

So basically..somalis get married out of lust and sexual desires..but not love?? correct??

Who agrees with Niya? and if thats the main reason the divorce rate is so high among somalis in the diaspora??

YES. Cawar, i have always stated this myself. As you know, somalis do not 'date'. A gaalo date will allow u to sleep before getting married, u know-- go around, form a relationship after sex, and maybe- marriage will come. But for somalis- hornines thoughts jumps to marriage thoughts, marriage thoughts jumps to boringness slash babies, bills, life and then divorce. Then single mothers begin to date like houchi mamas. A divorced single mother is a free bird, she can sleep with anyone she wants, discreetly of course, without any censure from society. If virginity was not so much valued as it is in somalis-- there wouldn't be so much alarming somali marriages every weekend and and every tuesdays -divorces. :D
