(SomaliNet) The overall situation in Somalia is getting much better and better than what it was before the involvement of Ethiopia and African Union, Somalia Ambassador to South Africa, Abdulkerim Farah said.
The Somali Ambassador, in an exclusive interview with WIC, said that there is no clan to clan fighting at present in the country, adding that the absence of civil war and clan fighting in Somalia is an indication that there is success in bringing lasting peace and stability, which is the result of the cooperative efforts made by TFG, Ethiopia and the African Union.
The Ambassador added that not only the security but also the humanitarian situation is much better than the years before.
Ethiopia's role not only as a member of the African Union but also as a neighbor in the affairs of Somalia is absolutely right. As a neighbor it shares the longest border with Somalia and the people of both countries in the border areas are the same and live together that ensuring peace in Somalia helps both countries, which makes the involvement of Ethiopia crucial, according to Farah.
The Somali envoy also said that Ethiopia is the only country supporting the Somali people in their time of difficulty, adding that had Ethiopians been not involved in Mogadishu, the reconciliation conference which brought together every clan and politicians in Somalia and the overall improvements of the situation in Somalia would never take place.
The huge sacrifice paid by the Ethiopian forces to bring peace and stability in Somalia will remain in the minds of the Somali people forever, he indicated.-WIC
