That is christian tradition, it(holding hands before diner) has no place in islam.

It was just a observation from my side. I have never come accros muslims holding hands before breaking fast. The prophet sallahu aleyhi wa alaa alihi wasalam didnt do this with his family,the same goes for sahaba(may Allaah be pleased with them) and those who followed them in goodness.

The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam said: You will imitate the nations before you very closely to the extent that if they went into a lizards hole, you would enter it as well. his companions, may Allaah be pleased with them, inquired: (Do you mean) the Jews and Christians, O Messenger of Allaah? He sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam replied: Who else?(Bukhaari & Muslim).

Maybe the mom is not a muslim!!! Alhamduliaah, at the least the father here is teaching his kids some islamic manners. Mercy be upon on the thousands of muslim men who marry non muslim women and the children end up with no faith at all!!!
