trauma?

I don't know how it happened, but I just remembered some of the habaars our old women used to say to their kids were so cold, it made them look like heartless old hags who did not even mothered the kids they were raising. No question about their unconditional love for their kids, but did they understand what long term scarring effects their habaar and threats would have on the child?

Some of the worst I used to hear............on girls

What psychological effect would these curses and threats have on a young delicate mind?

they do in a way, because whather the kids understand the curse or not, it does affect them becuase sometimes it might come true. but mothers when they angry they feel like they have no choice.

I don't think they understood what they were saying. They got from their moms and just continued that stupid unislamic tradition. some of those habaars must have been answered judging by all the extremely large number of inkaarqabes in the somali population.

Some of today's mothers are worse..esp some single moms I have seen throughout..it makes the old moms sound like priests.

Cursing their kids with : Aabaha iyo khaniski ku dhalay, wecelyow wecelku dhalay and certain caays I cant even mention.

I stopped going to that shit but where i live is full of Somalis and 85% of the women are all GAROOBS

Accudu bilahi.... hooyaday waligeed nama habaarin. But I cant imagine any mother uttering those things to her kids.
