"Hear different names of the Islamist groups taking control"

Postby FAH1223 » Thu Jan 15, 2009 11:24 am

"The city is almost under Islamist rule," said a local journalist who did not want his name revealed. "You can hear different names of the Islamist groups taking control in many parts of the city."

http://hiiraan.com/news2/2009/Jan/_terror_group_joins_somali_capital_takeover.aspx

How is this different than the WARLORD era when there were many warlords who had control of different districts with their militias in Xamar?

History seems to be repeating itself, only in a different form...not too long before these groups fight each other

The UIC is back and they are here to stay Mogadishu is free and controlled by the UIC

Somalians didn't see peace until the Union of Islamic courts took control, they got rid of all the criminal warlords and somalies were able to walk on the streets at night without any fear of being killed or kidnapped by militias, the Islamic courts opened the airport and the see port near Mogadishu, these main compounds were closed for 15 years because of the civil war, the Islamic courts opened them in just few months after they seized the capital, I advice you guys to watch the documentary about the Islamic courts by the BBC reporter, I cant remember what it was called, use Youtube.

theres no need

ethiopia accomplished objectives up there a loong time ago

those regions are the legacy of the SNM and the SSDF (other related groups) that Ethiopia hosted and financed...

so why would they mess up enclaves that they can so easily manipulate?

the South is different sure with all these groups... but its a puppet master holding the strings and its doing a damn good job at it

the ICU took everyone by suprise 3 years ago... but Ethiopia's invasion has managed to rip the organization into pieces

and now they finance the clan militia calling themselves "ahlu sunnah wal jamaaca"

Because they have already those regions on lockdown because of the submitiveness of the people.

i wonder if the walanweyn will continuing saying this when all the Ethiopians withdraw from Somalia konfuurta. in 1998 in 1999 in 2000, we never heard of these xabashis till 24 December 2006 when they captured xammar. Melez zanawi is a jabhad and he will deal with another jabhad in 2009 silanyo

I can't speak for Somaliland, but In Putland Ethiopia have nothing to do with out internal affairs. We sing our own Oil deal, made our own election. If Ethiopia had any say in our election, they would have made sure to get Cadde muse the seat. And Finally, We charge the Ethiopians to use our port, unlike Somaliand.

Now, What did being aggressive get you? Getting ass raped in your own home, 40, 000 dead, 1 million displaced and Moqdiosho in ruins

ICU and Al-shabab have a huge apportunity to turn somalia in to a moderate islamic state. Only if they solve their differences, but so far the gap is widening though it's hard to tell what is gonna happen.

nah man, you don't see it

it has nothing to do with your internal affairs or politics or development

its the whole concept of isolationism of different regions from each other that is the benefaction of Ethiopia (and maybe Kenya), it ties into the clan alliances, it ties into the whole somali v. somali thing, its part of a bigger picture...

its what they planned all along

I really need to find the quotes from the 80s in relation to it.... Mengistu talking about it...

captain the Ethiopians pay a high price using Berbera wa halkay dawlada lacagtu ka soo gasho. What isolation u talking about fah. the same isolation Djibouti is in
why do i care if Ethiopia benefits or not man the main reason is that i benefit and that my people are progressing. If Ethiopia burns its not in my interest 40 million oromos will flee to where to Somaliland , i do not want that. So if Ethiopia stays stable its in my interest. They are a good neighbor.

Djibouti is not Somalia. Remember, the French are still there... they never left.
