Talk me down

Postby SummerRain » Tue Jan 27, 2009 10:53 am

Do you agree with this statement:

It is correct to say that Islam is not the religion of equality but that of JUSTICE.

I tend to agree with that, because implying we are all equal (especially when this equality attributes to the equality ascribed by most int the West) would mean, we ignore our differences i.e MEN and WOMEN.If we take a look at wealth distribution in Islam between men and women, siblings to be exact, the man gets more share than the female. Think about the reasons why ALLAH ruled it as such. However, with Justice everyone will receive what he or she is entitled to and deserve.

I sorta agree with you. Equal rights for men and women regarding many issues, but not every issue like you mentioned. The reason men get more inheritance is because men are responsible for their female relatives, that includes their wives, daughters, sisters and mothers. Whereas women are not obligated to be financially responsible for men, whatever a woman earns is hers to keep.

this is fair because in marriage...i have the right to say to my husband "what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine"

in other words..we both work, but my earning go directly to my bank account while his earnings go toward our household and living expenditures...he pays for my bills..my telephone bills..my automo-bills

i agree, because JUSTICE itself is the Equality we looking and Yearning for, and if that means treating somene less favourable will bring the ultimate justice, then that will be the correct path!

The moto of that liberal lesbo Maddow on MSNBC is "Talk me Down". Guess Ismahan123 is a loyal fan of that show host

Foxy22, You and Ismahan got big egos but what is your husband's is not always yours. It depends.

Am glad we all agree( well atleast those who bother to show up).

Numeric,
 Indeed I'm a loyal Maddow fan, so what?

I don't have a big ego, but just know my right. I don't understand by what you mean what belongs to my husband is not always mine. I'll like to know, if you have the answer. THanks.

"what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine"

This a good soundbite/punch line...what you ladies dont know.."sadly" is that this line is copied/xeroxed..pasted and claimed by others..While the origin comes from Islam..

But, you have a set of conditions to fill as a wife..you cant just take your husband's wealth and everything he owns..while he has other responsibilities..like other 3 wives..and more imp. while you are not performing your duties as a wife.

Cawar,
So when Numeric says it depends he is referring to situations like polygamy? Thanks.

Not anything I'll ever deal with.

I was trying to point out the origin of the expression..but why I am not surprised that the only comment you saw was the fact that a man can legally(in Allah's law's) have multiple wives.

looooooooooooooooooooooooooolfoxy did you run into Helwa's comment. She was advicing someone complaining about shortage of good SOmali men, to go for a married man. I thought I was mad, you should have seen Zuliaka's reaction.

Ps Honesty is the best policy.
