Seattle(Saylac.com)-There is no official statement from the Somaliland government, but sources have learned a dozen top secret agents from the Criminal Investigation Department of Somaliland are in Djibouti. These secret agents are there to observe the Somaliland nationals who are there to attend the Somalia conference being held in Djibouti. The sources add that several of the Somaliland nationals have planned to secretly attend the Somali conference. Upon learning they had been followed to Djibouti by the secret agents of Somaliland CID, these nationals all became anonymous. The members of the Somali envoy being concerned about their safety and the confidentiality of the conference have requested that the government of Djibouti guarantee their safety and the confidentiality of their conference. To this request they receive no reply from the Djibouti government. It has been noted that there are strong bonds in the relationship between the Djibouti and Somaliland governments. One of the members of the Somali envoy informed the saylac.com that it was easy to see where the Djibouti government’s sympathy lies. He went on to say that the Djibouti government was very sympathetic to the Somaliland government because of the lack of response they received regarding their request for protection from the Somaliland nationals in Djibouti.
President Dahir Rayale Kahin made a historical official visit to Djibouti last year and was warmly welcomed by the top Djibouti officials including the Djibouti Prime Minister Dilaite Mohamed Dilaite and the Djibouti President Ismael Omer Guleid. After the initial meeting both sides came to an agreement and made a statement regarding the opening of two diplomatic offices in Hargeysa and Djibouti.
The Somaliland nationals are keeping a close eye on the conferences being held in Djibouti by the Somali envoys. Somalilanders have been warned of the possible attempt by the Somali envoy to undermine the independence of Somaliland. If there is any evidence this is taking place at the Somali conference, the Somaliland national will secretly attend the conference in an effort to thwart the attempt.
The independence of Somaliland is very important to the people of Somaliland. Somalia is still attempting to lay claim to Somaliland as part of its own country. Somaliland broke away from Somalia in May of 1991 when the Somalia government collapsed after the Barre’s removal from power. Since then they have maintained their independence from Somalia and has a function government, which Somalia 18 years later still does not have.
