Main argument brought forth by Patriot in his criticism of Sh.Shariif is:
-Why did he signed the peace agreement in Djiboutie?
In asking this question he constructs the argument of:
-Why didnt he do it 2 years earlier instead of first declaring war and then changing mind and coming to a peace agreement.
Basically, what Patriot implicitely and in one of his last posts explicitely made clear is: Sh.Shariif is a flipflopper.
------
Before I continue to adress his arguments, let me first disclose my previous opposition to Sh.Shariif policies. I opposed him and ICU because of their incompetent and hasty strategy of transforming a 15+ year stagnant Somali society structured by clannism into an Islamic society structured by Islamic principles.
Now, lets return to Patriot's critique.
First, he singles out SH.Shariif, and presupposed that all decisions ICU made were his. How he arrives at this illogical thinking still remains a mystery. This argument alone counters all his other assertions and accusations adressed to Sh.Shariif.
If we look at the ICU as a movement, we can notice that Sh.Shariif and men like Prof.Addow were the most pragmatic individuals in that movement, and the reason why there were Sudan talks was because of that pragmatic camp inside ICU. Even at this stage, were the ICU defeated the warlords, the most hardline group within the movement were non other then the Alshabab men like Roobow who was yelling Jihad left to right, and even brought his 10-year old son at the front linie in Daynuunay while he said on record (Aljazeera documentary) that he was delighted for his 2 sons (both under 16) to join in this Jihad against Ethiopia and the west.
Fast forward to the defeat and dissolve of the ICU. As we all know, the ICU movement which only was united in the defeat of the infamous Mogadishu warlords broke in different factions, some moderate, others radical.
Sh.Shariif belongs to the moderate camp which is pragmatic and considers all options open to achieve the goal of Ethiopian withdrawal from Somalia. Diplomacy is one branch of war, and should be considered seriously.
Now, Sh.Shariif's camp entered into some agreement in which he never said he would become part of the puppet regime.
Instead, he played politics and said he was prepared to create a unity government free from warlords.
Now, Patriot, tell us exactly what qualifies Sh.Shariif as flipflopper? Hasn't he stick to his pragmatic approach to politics? Hasn't he stick to the overal goal of the resistance: Ethiopians out of Somalia?
Now what comes after this is something which we need await a little bit for the facts to present themselves.
Patriot, explain also why you never cricize men like Sh. Roobow, Sh.turki etc. And take the interest and urgent needs of the Somali masses into consideration.
