Last I looked Puntland declared themselves part of Somalia so the "south's government" is their government.

Now when you take into consideration that Puntland and Somaliland, the two northern maamuls that have had the most peace in the civil war are now both very opposed to Shiekh Sharif and the new government, you start to understand these two little maamuls really believe their wellbeing is connected to war and destuction in the south.

Gedo is in the South and is more connected with Mogadishu economically, commercially than with thousands of Kilometres away Bossaso even though the people there are tol and the people in Mogadishu are from a different clan. Interests are intertwined, so I think the akhiyaar opproach for all Puntlanders/Somalilanders would be to wish them the best of luck, and decrease with all the spite.
