maandhow, answer the question ama nacnacdaada meel kale la tag. this is important question because it ties to The Great Zanji Revolt against the Abbasids, history of carab slave taking and conquest. and it has modern day implication.

maandhow, did ur mom drop u on ur head when young or r u naturally slow. u can't see the link here?
Slavery + political hegemony + dynasty + conquest... see the link now? even ibn khaldun got it 700 years ago, why no u?
is there "meccan hegemony"? i say yes and we still live under one today. we muslims try to be meccans following meccan cultural norms, political thoughts. look meccan wanna be alshabaabs.
methinks until we deconstruct the legacy of meccan hegemony we muslims will never rise above mediocrity.

Lol. When you asked why..you clearly implied that it was some sort of a set up as to why the Khalifa went to Meccans including the Rashidun.
What you are forgetting is that they were the ones who lit. were the cumuud(pillars) of the religion before it even took off and without them..you and I would not be muslims.
And you are also forgetting that thanks to how muslims deviated from the path of the Nabi CSW and his Khulafa..we are in this mess..
And that the world is run by non muslims..in fact the muslims are the oppressed now a days.

sxb the world is divided between the capitalists and laborers. between those who got the money and own businesses and those who only got their labor. this is the real world and the only 1 that matters.
the meccans were rich and well connected. they used their wealth to appropriate disproportionate power and by doin so desecrate the egalitarian principles of Islam. how come a muslim Caliph owns a slave?

Maybe.. as its the norm in human nature.. but you cannot ignore the role played by the Meccans in defending a newly proclaimed religion and the man who brought it up.
Its only fair to compensate those who fought for the cause with some extra favor..dont you agree??
Besides, even the prophet owned a slave.. so you either lump the rasuul with his companions or make and say your dounbts about the whole process.
PS. It was the norm and the culture worldwide to own slaves at the time.

one of da lasting legacies of Meccan Hegemony is re-writing of islamic history by the meccans to fit their doctrine of meccan supriority. even to this day muslims think carabs have inalienable right to appropriate power.
