I would say Egyptian. All Arabs understand that dialect very well, because Egyptians dominate in the entertainment business in terms of movies, music, musalsalaat. I think Egypt is the Bollywood of the Middle East (at least it used to to be in my day). Plus it's very distictive, when you hear an Egyptian person speak you know immediately he is Masri.
I believe Arabic language is one of the hardest language to learn. It will require a huge effort from your end, but I would encourage you to totally immerse yourself in their movies, music, news (maybe get the Arabic channels from your local cable) Class room instruction is not enough, you really have to also focus on every day use of the langauge in natural settings. I was lucky enough that I learded it as a kid, don't really remember learning it per se.
I had the same problem with French, I really wanted to master it but when I started to take lessons I was older (maybe 15 or so) and it wasn't very intensive...I tried again in College but it never really took off, I understand much better when I read, than if I hear someone speak it.
