Somalia: something u may not have noticed yet
new somali gov: Arab League and West hybrid.
A friend of mine who was and still is part of the ICU told me something, which if shared with you @ time would look like a fool's imagination. It was when Sheik sharif was picked up @ the border and his whereabouts were not known precisely. From that day, everything that man said to me were taking shape.
He said, Somalia is going a new direction led by a marriage between the west and the Islamic Courts. So many other marriages between different groups failed in the past and now, welcome to 2009 Somalia, controlled by the Islamic Courts and the West.
The courts got the president and the west got the PM position. So let's see if this marriage lasts or if end up like the ones b4.
Omar Abdirashid's pick: I am under the impression that Sheik Sharif knew who he was going to pick the day he was sworn. The same source told me "ina Abdirashid" is Somalia's next PM weeks ago. Ali Khalif Galeyr was vetted but it was said he's more experienced than all ICU guys and was seen as a threat.
Two positive notes:
1- The old guys tossed the torch to a younger more ambitious generation
2- Somalia's havoc has always been fueled by the west and the Arab League. Now, these two external forces have their men @ the helm which can reduce friction on the ground.

Re: Somalia: something u may not have noticed yet
If you think about it, it's amazing how things have changed, I clearly remember when the Islamic courts and Shariif, declared a holy jihaad war on TFG, and their dhabodhilifis, and now this new government seems like is headed the same direction. My question is though will he rule by the Sharica, I know ICU tried to do that two yeas ago, I wonder if still that is the case.
Fah, all those other groups should be eliminated and dealt with it, that is our only chance at peace, unity again.

Admin very interesting point. i was saying for a while that this government is already built. even now as we write this, the ministeries are listed and every position is known by Sh. Sharif and close associates. It always reminds me of the Obama election, since i followed that closely, when they had precisely predicted the primary states that they were going to win. its obvious somalia is being run my Multinational forces (neighbors and others) and they do not hid that fact, as all of our governments have been built abroad. may this marriage last longer than george bush and barbara bush.

those groups aren't pushovers and the TFG isn't going to eliminate them... they have more MPs than soldiersNabeela wrote:If you think about it, it's amazing how things have changed, I clearly remember when the Islamic courts and Shariif, declared a holy jihaad war on TFG, and their dhabodhilifis, and now his government is facing the same position, my question is though will he rule by the Sharica, I know ICU tried to do that two yeas ago, I wonder if still that is the case.

this TFG is the same as the last one, you only have young men at the healm now who aren't stained by the civil war
Re: Somalia: something u may not have noticed yet
My hope for this government is starting to die.

Re: Somalia: something u may not have noticed yet
Seems like the Admin made an accurate prediction, President Sheikh shariff is now running things with western support as well as support from key figures of the defunct UIC
Re: Somalia: something u may not have noticed yet
The Arabs still wish to destroy us but now the West is willing to support us in re-establishing Somalia Federal institutions
Sheikh shariff is doing a great job to build somalia with what he says and to garner futher western support to help somalia continue towards the right direction. For one thing Somalia's Army and police are shaping up
