Lets have a little discussion

Postby ms.naliaa » Wed Mar 18, 2009 8:19 am

First and foremost, no character bashing. Im doing this soley to have a discussion.
Second, just for a moment, put your "religious moral" aside and thing constructivley.

Why is prostitution illegal?
Lets define it first: doing sexual favors for money.
Okay, so its illegal because they are 'selling' their bodies right?
Welll; we're all selling our bodies one way or the other. Construction workers use their bodies to build a home. Painters and artists use their fingers and hands to make art. Even those in the financial industry sell their 'intellectual' bodies..and all get money for it. So who decided that a coochie/dingdog was the only part of the body that a person cant use to make money?

Again, I said put religion aside ( i know its hard but do it anyways) when ur thinking about this issue.

I agree with you that it is 'immoral' Im not promoting the idea. If you want to take your objective of buildinig a society, well those individuals who make money from it contribute to society wheather it be through paying taxes, purchasing products to increase the GDP of the economy as a whole. Rather, if they didnt work, they would taking away from the society and you would be faced to pay for their living.

Its definately immoral and corrupts society. But if a women is engaging in sexs outside marriage I dont see a problem if she discreetly provides her services in exchange for cash. Its fair

Is there any culture and/or religion that holds prostitution in high regard? I'm guessing the answers no.

I understand what you are trying to say but the fact is! my(our) religion is a way of life not a path you can follow until you reach your destination.

I understand that some females are forced into selling their body for money, but the vast majority of them(prostitute`s) do it so they can afford to buy drugs, alcohol etc

I don't think it was illegal in Somalia, there were brothels open for business and known to everybody including the authority. I used to hear when I was a kid "Xaafadda dhilloyinka" and even used to see them sitting on small gambars outside waiting for customers.

I am moving to Nevada

So, if it wasnt 'immoral' you guys wouldnt have an issue with it..right?
You guys are programmed to think that its immoral, you were taught from a very young age that its an discussting shameful act. Now think if you werent raised that way. Would you still have a problem with it?

ms nalia, i have thought long and hard about this...and i might be one of the few people who believe that prostitution maybe shouldn't be illegal. Everyone knows right from wrong..it's something we're taught from a very young age, and it's up to each person what they decide to do with their body. If they want to sell it let them. As long as it isn't anyone close/related to you then why care? The truth is prostitution is always going to be a 'profession', it's something which will never die, it's illegal yet it still goes on.

The problem is that most prostitutes are substance abusers, and they're more or less forced to do this to be able to buy their drugs. Sad yes, but then again they put themselves in that situation in the first place.

you're advocating immoral society which materialism is more important than human well being.
why those people not educated and do things for themselves and community and their country. i believe those selling their bodies not in their mind to contribute the society or pay taxes. plus once those get older they will be out of business and society will pay for their living in the end with loads of health problems that tax payers will pay for them including HIV and mental issues.

i dont think it's easy decision one can take to sell their body!! there is always social, personal and family problems that one force to take that road than going to school and better themselves!!

it's tough decision, and my self i believe they deserve better way to make living than one to share their private parties to strangers in exchange bread!!
