i dont know if its really a discussin, well i wanted share this with you guys anyway.

a Zambian friend of mine was telling me how he's s angry with somalis. i said to him why? and he was like. basically, in the city he lives,the local somali cmminuty decided to have conference were they invited local concillors and MP. they asked if they could have SOMALI on the forms they fill in, instead of AFRICAN!!!


he was like why, why do somalis think they better than Africans? arent they from East Africa.

i was didnt know what to say, because in one hand he has a point because somalis are after all are africans, and shouldnt play the "we better than you" card (thats how other africans sees it) but i kinda understand where they coming from.

so just wanted to ask you guys how would you feel about having somalis as identity in application forms as somalis instead of africans. (i remember i made a topic about this long ago, but this issue really bothers me).

I completely wholeheartedly dissagree with the idea of having "somali" as a choice.
Our country is located in africa, we look like we are from Africa...we ARE african.

I dont agree with Somali populs defining thesmelves as a race. Thats absurd.

Didnt ALLAH create the "fufus" also. It would have made more sense if you said because we are muslims and you are not.

somali star of course we are muslim and sunni to be exact, al hamdulilah for that, but you do know that there are many African muslims in the world. some might be better than us! so you never know to them what they think of us!

From where I stad (which would the techinical sense) people are grouped based on region. Europe, Asia,North America.....Africa. So unless Somalia wants to become its own continent and square off the coast of the indian ocean....everyone living in that country is African.
