i heard any somali who ends up there falls asleep mysteriously and wakes up @ mogadishu airport. They deported many somalis via that place.

admin, lol. Not me bro, a relative of mine was just put in there last week. I'm headed there to see him. We already got an attorney for him, but my mother insists I go and visit him. All I know about the facility is that its in Batavia, NY about 1 hr drive from Buffalo and its an all-male center.

Kolombo, I once translated for a somali woman in court few yrs ago.. funny and scary place..I thought you were going there as an interpreter.

They flew me there(paid the ticket) and got paid $650 for the day..

Felony drug charges + expired green card. He's facing deportation, they just don't know where to deport him.

I constantly hear about Somali dudes spending decades in INS detention centers because there is nowhere to deport them to.

My biggest concern is that he will get lost in the system or get the book thrown at him.

For a drug charge, he will be out in 5 or less on good behavior. As for the deportation, he should claim to be Kenyan or Ethiopia for quick deportation.

K, I went to the court..but I remember someone mentioning that there was a detention facility near.. dont know where exactly though.

It is very sad to hear that a relative is in a jail. So are many many Somalis..Thousands...The problem is , we Somalis don't help each other, don't warn against problems..Because we gossip each other very badly, when a mother or family are in need for help they are scared of the slander that will come from their fellow Somalis...Sad indeed...So even minor crimes that could have been solved were not...

According to people who have been in those facilties...(Immigration/deportation) they are horrible...I was told that because there are people there who don't care what will happen to them as they will anyway be deported..they are very rude and behave very badly...Specially the place is filled with Latinos..

So, if the relative is willing..let him be deported as soon as possible
