Outside the Box: Pregnant pause hits Arsenal as Everton end 108-game streak

Never mind Manchester United and Liverpool, there is a proper title chase in the Women's Premier League for the first time in years.

After Everton ended Arsenal's unbeaten record of a scarcely believable 108 League games last weekend, but only drew on Thursday, they go into today's programme five points behind with two matches in hand. The key fixture is the return between the teams on Merseyside on a date yet to be arranged. The manager of Arsenal's serial monopolists, Vic Akers, says his 22nd and final season in the job is the hardest yet. After all, Arsène Wenger hasn't had to cope with the defection of three stars to a new American league; let alone a key striker, Julie Fleeting (14 goals in 10 starts), falling pregnant.
