I think you take things too seriously than is required. the case presented here is what we discussed... if she could be considered a somali or not.... and we came to a general agreement over the parameters I have already stated. We didn't really draw any list and NO! it was not really a serious discussion....We joked and laughed about how she may look like..etc
I am not prescribing my opinion to be the opinion of all Somalis nor do I have that power so its pointless that you ask things like "who are you to decide what race a man/woman can/can not be with?"...

Somali mixtures and racism:
Somali-Arab/Indian/Middle Eastern etc mix: Well respected, has no problems being accepted within the Somali community.
Somali-White mix: Gets some respect, but Somalis are always suspicious to these types.
Somali-African mix (Muslim): They respect them, but always behind their backs look down on them.
Somali-African/Caribbean mix (non-Muslim): Ridiculed, not respected.
Somali-East Asian mix: Just weird, one in a gazillion.

Come to Cardiff, liverpool or any other UK tuulo and there are plenty of half somali, half cadaan kids. Mostly kids of seamen. Waa caadi, accepted by all. Some still have the father around and look cadaan but can reel off their whole clan line, others act, look and seem cadaan but have surnames such as abdi, libaan, ali etc.

lol where i live people dont ask useless question.
plus i live with people who know us.
i still live the house i was born. every one knows us , from neighbours, masjid, school.
so im not stranger that people will ask me. they know me by my father's name.lol

Advo:- Poor girl, that's a terrible thing for anyone to experience.
I had this student once, she was half Somali and half Ethiopian. She's really pretty. Masha-Allah. Both her parents are Muslims. Her father is Somali, and he married her mother, and they are still together. She was treated differently by the other Somali students, they didn't see her as a Somali, which was wrong of them, but other staff members and I didn't allow them to bully her in any way. She dressed Islamically, and she spoke good Somali too.

mixed kids are usualy confused. mixed raced kids I know who are black and white usualy always act black and hate their white side
even though the girl in dis topic according to the somali culture is a somali her self. I can see why she isnt seen as a somali and shunnned

My father came to the states in '81 as well and he was the one who explained this all to me. I was surprised when I heard that a longtime family friend used to be married to an AA woman and has a daughter ( which he has absolutely nothing to do with). He did it for immigration purposes and is now married to a Somali woman and has a few kids with her. Sad.
