Open letter to the Admin

Postby Mr. Yungnfresh » Sun May 31, 2009 7:45 pm

Firstly, I greet you with Salaams.

Salaan ka dib, I felt it was urgently necessary to address a pressing matter before us. There has been alot of support for and members seemingly rallying behind my good friend Voltage, endorsing him for the position of head moderator based on merit. This could not be further from the truth. I stood in awe as I watched several members who openly voiced their concern with Voltage becoming head mod, begin to change their stance on the issue and disingenuously feign their confidence in his ability to conduct the affairs of head mod impartially. This period of shock and bewilderment would not last long though, as I asked one of those individuals why they would change their views so suddenly. The answer I received was disheartening, to say the least. That member (who requested i protect their identity and allow them to remain anonymous) indicated to me that Voltage had approached them via PM and assured them special consideration if they publically stated they would support him becoming head mod. I never expected Voltage to employ such underhanded tactics and try to secure victory by manipulating the selection process. I have nothing but respect for Voltage, but that was very distasteful maneuvering and I'd be lying if i said I still held him in the same esteem as I did before I learned of that. What further exacerbated the descent in the respect I have for him is a thread that was made by Serena (that was promptly deleted by the mods) which showed how he had used The-Screw's username to change people's posts in the Puntland section. How do I know it was Voltage who did that? Great question....and i have a great answer. It shows on the mod log that the person who altered the posts under The-Screw's username was posting from an IP that was not only in Seattle (which Voltage has made no secret of that he resides there), but it was from a University campus....the same University campus which Voltage conspicuously attends. If there was any shadow of a doubt, it was removed when a post of Voltage's (mere seconds earlier) was also registered to that same IP address. There is a mass pm that was sent out which shows all this information (backed up with screenshots)....I'll let you make of it what you will.

Me and Voltage are good friends who have always been on amicable terms. There's few things i wouldn't do for him....and sitting back and turning a blind eye to proof of him not being qualified for the head mod job is one of them. If it were a decision based on how much I like Voltage, then I would say he should be head mod. If that isn't a deciding factor, then I cannot in good conscience support him. Above all, I'd like Somalinet to be a fair and free discussion forum....fair to all and free of bias. Voltage is the most eloquent among us, bar none. He is naturally gifted in the oral arts and has an unparalleled command of politics. If the job is awarded based on fluidity of speech and the ability to rhyme off the abtirsi of the majority of the political players in Somalia, and recount historical events in Somalia in detail that few of us even heard of, then Voltage is the man for the job. But if the responsibility of ensuring the forum runs smoothly is awarded based on reason, foresight and the public interest of Somalinet, I'm afraid Voltage is disqualified.

Voltage, I'd like to address you personally for a moment. You're one of my favourite members here and I respect you like a brother. I wanted to write this to the admin publically instead of in a pm because I don't want you to accuse me of selling you out behind ur back or anything.....I hope our friendship will not be impacted by my honesty and desire to see Somalinet run fairly. I would likely benefit from you being a moderator for selfish reasons since we're good friends and I know you'd have my back on anything I ask, but I'm writing this in the interest of the majority of this site whom i fear would be victimized based on your history of calool-xumo towards them. I stand on the side of justice, before standing on the side of personal interest. I still have nothing but the utmost respect for you as a person, but when it comes to being the head mod, I'm sorry, but you know deep down you aren't right for the job.

Mr. Yungnfresh.

Didn't you recently get demoted as junior Mod because you were giving secret information to someone to qarxis Voltage, Sadeboi, and The Screw? :|

this is so pathetic and becoming out of control, members holding personal grudges against someone want to dicate who will run the affairs of the forum?
doesn't the whole forum know you are not a mod anymore because you contributed to Voltage and Sadeboi's qarxis by your Puntland friends??

I pretty much agree with what you said YnF and am opposed of Voltage becoming the head MOD..simply because he isnt right candidate for the job.

I am even surprised at those promoting him.. who I am sure also know that he is not the right candidate ..and quite frankly didnt know what to make of it..
But it seems clear now that there is a fierce lobbying going on behind the secenes.

...and why are The-Screw, Voltage and Sadeboi working collectively behind scene?. To abuse certain forum members, and expose an innocent sister?.... Disgusting...
