That is becuz most muslims don't know their religion besides praying, paying zakat, how to say shahada, pilgrimage and saying Allahu akbar.
So when they meet a non-mulim who knows more about Islam then they do, their mind shifts into transient state of Zombi-like behaviour. During these moments is when you will witness absurd statements, bizzare reasoning and blind hate. Sadly the 'normal' state of mind for most muslims isn't any better either.
During normal state of mind most muslims are either indifferent and display little bit of illogical reasoning left over from zombi-like state of mind. This is when you will see some muslims on the rampage killing and destroying properties, all becuz it is said in a magazine that someone guards in GITMO desecrated the Quran. Is a human's life worth less than few words purpoting the desecration of the quran. Also during this state muslims are indifferent to the injustices and transgressions by their own leaders- the real reasons for their misery and gross underdevelopment. You will see muslims indifferent to their religion being hijacked by extremists, who make videos showing them slitting the throats of journalists and screaming ALAHU AKBAR followed by a kiss to the quran.
The normal state of mind for muslims also lacks any sense of proportionality or priority. You will some muslims living thousands of miles away protesting about Palastinian cause, ppl who get more aid per capita than any ppl in the world, while being indifferent of the suffering and misery facing muslim Chechens in the turned-into-rubble by Russian carpet bombings of Grozny's apartments. Muslims protested againts the US and Nato bombings of Serbia to stop them from massacring MUSLIM Kosovars. The crisis in Darfur didn't happen according to most muslims. It was zionist propaganda they will tell you. Why should any somali care about the suffering of Palastinians, when he can pre-occupy his time with suffering of Ogaden somalis or the clan war-fare taking place in his country.
You can dismiss what I say above as personal opinion. I can accept that, as we all have our individualistic opinions. But you can't deny the fact that Islam has turned or is partially responsible, for once mighty, rich, powerful and functional societies/countries into the most backward and poorest nations of the today's world. The once mighty Egyptians and Persians are fraction of what they were during the lows of their time of ascension. Why is that there is no single successful, funtioning Islamic country today? Is it all down to coincidence? All the the Islamic nations are poor at the same time in history or is there more to it. I leave these question to muslims. I aint muslim.
I only raise these questions as I see them as the stuff of daily or often discused topic material. Each day this site has many Islam related topics posted but very few deal with real issues facing muslims both in Islamic countries and in non-Isamic countries. You would expect to find these questions raised and discussed in place mainly populated by muslims, but sadly this isn't the case. In my opinion this is a manifestation of the problems facing muslims. When you try to ignore reality and pre-occupy your time with ideal, irrelevant and non-real issues, is when alarm bells should go off in you head. Lets hope muslims aren't mute to the sounds of the bells.
