This shows how absurd religion is. Talking to mythical beings like God is seen as eccentric and almost absurd, but then when one justifies talking so from a religious standpoint, as in this case through prayer, the absurdity is taken away by the sheer irrational belief in God. It reminds me of Heraclitus on the importance of 'context.'
