You want the truth? You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with computers. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Somalilander? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Dahabshil and you curse Dr Osman. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Dhabshil's business, while successful, probably wastes lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at Somaliland parties, you want me to do my research. You need me to do my research.
We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very research I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you go to google and start researching. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

Signal aka Cusman

I work as an newly graduated accountant and I also run my own services together with a somali firm to provide financial and services for the Somali business community here in the UK. I have access to Dahabshiil UK registered business through the company house records.

I have all there financial records, shareholding, ect

Here is the shareholding of Dahabshiil UK
Image

btw They made a £2m turnover and a loss of -£21,333 for the year ending 1.1.2008  . The accounts for 2009 haven't been prepared. I can post there full Profit and Loss account and Balance sheet for the past 5 years. I have always said Somali money transfer is not a profitable business

They have got 2 businesses registered in UK...Dahabshiil Services Limited and Dahabshiil Holdings Ltd. From the records at the companies house (the official UK government register of companies) the only shareholder listed is Abdirashid M Ducaale.

Signal,

u do realize that $500 mln to $1 billion is what they handle, not what the Somali Hawalas make. If Dahabshiil shares the handling of that money with so many other companies, how the hell are they going to make a $100 million profit?

btw, slow ur fuking roll dude and remove ur avatar. Chill the fuk out baan ku idhi.

$1billion x 5% (commission charge) = $50m x 70% Xawalad's margin on commission = $35million

The agents get 30% and the Xawalads get 70%.

$35 million is what all the Somali Xawalad share and thats sales revenue not profits. Share it between the Somali Xawalads and deduct all the expenses and you haven't got much left.

the words of Mr duale himself ............ Real talk

“Very soon people will be able to go to a Dahabshiil ATM in Hargeisa and withdraw money. Very soon we will offer a lot of the products you can get in London here in Hargeisa. Why not?” asked Mr Duale. “The technology is here, the money is here. I believe everything is
possible.”
