This investigation has been going on since January. I think the Australian government has reasons for doing the raids.

Australia, as well as other Western countries, no longer need refugees or cheap labor as a result of the global recession. Incidents like this raid are to be expected to be the norm, and it's a way of getting rid off foreigners who are no longer needed. The economies of those countries can no longer finance refugees or welfare.

So why haven't the large Asian economic migrant community been targeted instead of the minuscule Somali refugee community that is not even worth census statistics?

Every community that's non-essential has been targeted. The means of how communities are targeted vary. Virtually all sponsorships and resettlements have been stopped. Highly-skilled Asians who oftentimes get hired for far less than their Western counterpart are the exception.
