if we all think like you do then wat is the point of being Somali, we are a strong willed and determined people and i am glad i am a Somali and proud to be... for many years i harboured deep feelings of hate and frustration at the problems in somalia.. now i have made my peace and realised that each ones of us must play our part... from doing volunteering in local school in the diaspora or attending demonstrations or even possibly sending monies to local charities, laakin ppl like you who sit behind a computer screen and propagating this idea that somalia is dead is pathetic.... baal wat do you gain from telling us on a dialy basis that somali and somalia are doomed? many people posses this idea that somalia owes them something, you are one of those people...

we are strong ppl... life still continues despite all these troubles.

Marcus smith...if you feel so passionately about it...where are you and your faaraxs that set up that student organisation that fizzled away a couple of years back? I heard you lot couldnt agree on who the boss would be and therefore didnt manage to meet one single objective. Somalis are anachic by nature man...bloody Somalis.

bro, i have done things for my people on the local level, i always hope for the best but at the same time I have to be real about it and the situation just isn't changing

its not self hate, its frustration

if your own father is even giving up on somalia all together, why should his son who was born here even give more of a damn?

somalia doesn't owe me nothing, i wasn't born there...but I would like to have a homeland that is FUNCTIONING and NORMAL (even on African standards), thats all I want to see from it...

but noooooooo... everyone wants their own state, everyone wants the kursi, no one wants to compromise...it socks and there is nothing you or I can do about it because the situation is way beyond control of diaspora people

When somali society changes, the country will be stable. I don't see that happening anytime soon as hypocrisy is the main religion of almost every somali you meet. Some of you should defer any dreams of seeing a stable Somalia first in the near future. Being proud of who you are is a side issue. The whole society is fucked up.

You'd think Somalia was the only country in history to have a civil war. It's character building.

In all honesty, the reason why those in the diaspora have a huge chip on their collective shoulders is because regardless of their university education or formal qualifications, at the end of the day a charismatic warlord will always have more influence then all of you combined
